Warner Bros. Japan has released the first full theatrical trailer for Tezuka Productions & director Gisaburo Sugii’s feature film Gusko Budori no Denki (The Life of Guskou Budori). Author Kenji Miyazawa’s 1932 children’s novel was first adapted into an anime feature film in 1994 by Serial Experiments Lain & Kino no Tabi director Ryutaro Nakamura. Sugii’s adaptation will hit Japanese theaters on July 7. Sugii also helmed the 1985 anime film adaptation of Miyazawa’s 1934 novel Night on the Galactic Railroad.
Now that we finally see a full trailer, this looks really interesting. Ah, and the lovely vocal theme is sung by Oda Kazumasa. I thought it sounded like his voice.
Niconico has released a two-minute teaser for the upcoming Yuruyuri♪♪ anime TV series. The series will continue the 12-episode Yuruyuri slice-of-life comedy anime that premiered last July.
The popular children’s song “Oshiri Kajiri Mushi” (Butt-Biting Insect) will be adapted into a TV anime series of 20 five-minute-episodes that will air this fall. The song created by “Uruma Delvi” premiered in 2007 on the Minna no Uta children’s music TV program and became a best-seller. The NHK network’s anime adaptation will revolve around Oshiri Kajiri Mushi XVIII, “a 10-year-old insect who goes Biting School to inherit his family’s Biting Shop business.”
Studio Khara has announced that the forthcoming Sharp SH-06d NERV “Evangelion” smartphone will ship with a pre-installed two-plus minute long exclusive 3D Evangelion anime short. The phone will also include a gallery viewer of the 3D CG elements used in the anime short, custom “MAGI” stereoscopic 3D desktops, and an “Attack of The 8th Angel” mini-game. The phone will go on sale in Japan in June.
New York based film distributor GKids has acquired domestic theatrical distribution rights to Production I.G & creator/director Hiroyuki Okiura’s latest feature film A Letter to Momo (Momo e no Tegami). The multi-award winning film hit Japanese theatrical wide release last week and will premiere in American theaters this winter.
The first teaser trailer for the Fuse ~ Teppo Musume no Torimonocho (Fuse: A Gun Girl’s Detective Story) [pronounced "Fuu-say"] feature film has hit the web. The adaptation of Kazuki Sakuraba’s 2010 novel Fuse Gansaku: Satomi Hakkenden, inspired by the classic 19th century novel series by Kyokutei Bakin, depicts a teen girl named Hamaji who hunts dog-human hybrids known as Fuse. Bounen no Xamd director Masayuki Miyaji is helming the production for an October theatrical release.
The homepage for this July’s Hagure Yuusha no Estetica anime TV series has released a streaming teaser. The adaptation of Tetsuto Uesu’s light novel series depicts an international training organization that protects teens that return to earth after being transported to other worlds. The protagonist of the series is a teen boy who returns to Earth with a magic sword and a daughter of a demon king in tow. Studio ARMS (Himawari, Queen’s Blade) is producing with Rion Kujo (Asu no Yoichi) directing.
The first teaser trailer for One Piece Z, the eleventh feature length One Piece motion picture, has hit the web. One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda personally created “Zeto,” the strongest opponent yet that will fact the Straw Hat Pirates. One Piece movie 8 director Tatsuya Nagamine is directing the film with Eiichiro Oda executive producing. The movie will hit Japanese theaters on December 15.
Film distributor Sochiku has released a new web exclusive trailer for Production I.G’s upcoming feature film Blood-C: The Last Dark. The sequel to last year’s Blood-C television series begins one year after the events of the TV series. The movie will open in Japanese theaters on June 2.
Once again this trailer immediately makes me think that this is what the TV series should have been from the outset.
The upcoming Accel World: Ginyoku no Kakusei video game will be released in a limited edition that includes a bonus OVA. The Playstation 3 version of the game will include the OVA on Blu-ray while the PSP version of the game will include a DVD. The game will be released in Japan on September 13. The anime TV series adaptation of Reki Kawahara’s sci-fi/action/romance light novel series premiered on April 6.
